Methodology

How we assess every operator

The same scorecard is applied to every operator. No commercial partnership changes a score.

  1. 01

    Licence verification

We confirm the licence holder and number directly against the SRIJ register of licensed entities. An operator without a valid licence is never listed.

  2. 02

    Real-account testing

We open an account, complete identity verification, deposit and withdraw funds, and time every step of the process.

  3. 03

    Terms analysis

We read the terms and conditions in full, paying particular attention to wagering requirements, withdrawal caps and dormant-account clauses.

  4. 04

    Player protection tools

We assess deposit limits, session limits, self-assessment tests and the link to the SRIJ central self-exclusion register.

  5. 05

    Customer support

We contact support by chat and email with genuine questions and measure both the speed and the quality of the answers.

  6. 06

    Ongoing review

Every review is revisited at least quarterly, and immediately whenever an operator’s licence status changes.

Public corrections

When we get something wrong, we fix it and date the change on the page itself.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

The essentials of licensed online gambling in Portugal.

Is online gambling legal in Portugal?

Yes. Online gambling has been legal and regulated in Portugal since 2015 under the Legal Regime for Online Games and Betting (RJO), approved by Decree-Law no. 66/2015. Only operators that have obtained a licence from the Gambling Regulation and Inspection Service (SRIJ) may offer gambling to residents of Portugal.

What is the SRIJ?

The Gambling Regulation and Inspection Service is the online gambling regulator in Portugal, part of Turismo de Portugal, I.P. It issues licences, supervises operators, runs the central self-exclusion register and maintains the public list of licensed entities.

How do I check that a casino holds a valid licence?

Consult the register of licensed entities published on the SRIJ website and look for the licence holder and its number. Every review on this site states both and links directly to the official register. Licensed operators also display the SRIJ seal in the footer of their own sites.

Which licences do the operators on this site hold?

Nossa Aposta is operated by A NOSSA APOSTA β€” JOGOS E APOSTAS ONLINE, S.A., holder of licence no. 011 for online games of chance and licence no. 012 for fixed-odds sports betting. Luckia is operated by LUCKIA PORTUGAL, S.A., holder of licence no. 015 for online games of chance and licence no. 014 for fixed-odds sports betting. All are listed in the public SRIJ register of licensed entities, and the PDF licence documents are linked from each review. Note that licences no. 012 and no. 014 currently have their activity temporarily suspended at the operators’ own request.

Can I play on sites without a Portuguese licence?

We do not recommend it under any circumstances. Operators without an SRIJ licence are not supervised by the Portuguese regulator, do not participate in the central self-exclusion register, and offer no route of complaint to a national authority. The SRIJ actively blocks access to illegal sites.

How does self-exclusion work in Portugal?

The SRIJ maintains a central self-exclusion register. Once you sign up, you are blocked from every operator licensed in Portugal simultaneously, for the period you choose. The request can be made online through the SRIJ website or with any licensed operator.

What limits can I set on my account?

Licensed operators are required to offer deposit limits (daily, weekly and monthly) and to display session time information. Many also offer loss limits, wager limits, temporary cooling-off periods and self-assessment tests. Limit reductions take effect immediately; increases are subject to a waiting period.
